These were designed by a Nike designer and curator named Mark Smith. Using a a computer and a laser machine which works in the same way as a tattoo gun, they used lasers in a line Burn setting to be able to create these detailed lines and textures. Only 200 pairs where made and each had a tag like the second picture, which indicated pair 10 out of 200. The article in sneaker news says  “The art of tattooing separates on individual from another, and consequently each of the 200 pairs of the Nike Air Force 1 Mark Smith laser is unlike one other.” Like a tattoo on an individual which showcases one self and how they represent them selves. Nike has done same by creating these unique shoes, not only producing 200 pairs but each pair being different from the other.  Art is art but for me on a shoes its just something else, an art piece that one can hangs up on a wall can only be seen by those in your place. Yet a sneaker can be seen by many more, it is an art piece one wears.

This is a mash up of the expendables trailer with video from several video games, including halo reach, halo 3, gears of war 3, and other.

Eric Haze is a graffiti artist and designer. He collaborated with Nike and produces the shoes you see above. He designed the shoes and the shoe box. Here a link to his website Eric Haze. He produced these Nike Dunk Haze in 2003, using airbrush. Meaning that not only was each pair unique but each shoe itself was different. Only 250 pairs were made, which were raffled on LA and NY.

These are Canvas artwork inspired by sneakers by Dave White . He is a UK artist which does a lot of work with sneaker pimps which are the worlds largest exhibition of sneakers and sneaker-related artwork.  He said

“I have explored sneakers as a vehicle for my painting as I find them incredible objects to look at. Whether it’s the line, the silhouette, colour, shape, form or texture, I believe sneakers are some of the most beautiful things ever designed”.

Sneakers are not only a canvas but also inspire work on to a traditional canvas. Here is a link to another blog freshness it has Dave White in action. All the paintings on shoes which I’ve seen him do are Nike so it is fitting to add this song because I’m pretty sure he is a NikeHead. here a link to the lyrics

Some more info the music you here in the background is a cumbia beat, which is what my parents listen to when they were young. Its typical Salvadorian cumbia beat.

There is asneaker documentary that is very good  called “Just for Kicks” which came out in 2005. I will post that documentary on a future post because I want to showcase some more sneaker artwork first. Stay tune for that, it is a good documentary explaining this culture.

These are a collaboration of New Balance and Crooked Tongues called the Confederation of Villainy. Crooked Tongues is a online sneaker resource and store. They based in London, have news on the hottest kicks on the streets and also interviews with designers. Here the link to there website Crooked Tongues. Here a break down of each shoe individually, each shoes also has its own design for the shoe box and is inspired by a villain in history. I have also placed links about each individual villain in the descriptions. I think the shoe boxes are cool, its not just about the shoe but also the presentation. My favorites is the 991 and 575 check them out.

This is a toy designed by Takara Tomy. So if you ever wondered how Optimums Prime looked like a Nike Free 7.0 here you go. The large one in the back is the actual Nike shoe and check out the toys shoes they also 7.0. I think its cool they also made Megatron into a Nike Free 7.0 here the link for that one, on amazon.

These are a collaboration of Tokidiki apparel and Ontisuka by Asics.  They are Unisex shoes but personally I think they for females.They look cool though.

Just post these so people can see how a shoe can be a canvas and become art.

This shot I found just looks good. The green and then u see a leaf that has changed color and signifies the coming of fall.

This is from a book I have called Art & Sole (Contemporary Sneaker Art & Design). This image is by Jun Goshima and it’s titled Original Piece. I believe it is referencing the first Nike Dunk, because in the book the exhibition, all the pictures feature a Nike Dunk. I just think it looks cool and shows how sneakers can inspire art and vice versa.

The Guitar Luthier, This is a link to a image story which contains 5 frames. It is a man working on a guitar, but the black and white pictures give it a interesting effect. Also you can see how much the man loves his craft and is focused on perfecting it. The last image is him with the finished product and him just losing himself in it.

Ok so since I got a boom-box on my page how bout some music.  I’m going to start posting different music on here. Mostly what I listen to which I think have meaning or just gets you moving haha. Here the first one Leaving the Past by Immortal Tech  Its a deep song with meaning  by an artitst I think is a great lyricist.

Man on Fire (2004) Directed by Tony Scott. This is not necessarily my favorite movie but one of my favorites.

Then the business side came in and alike all businesses wanted profit large amounts of money. The apps are easier to control and are also easier to make money off of. Capitalism is the battle over control and that is what is happening over the web, only the internet is easier to control. The monopoly is what makes money and this is happening, choice and competition are being diminished. Even Google is a monopoly yet it’s free. But Facebook started as a closed system one which was attractive to many and business. It created its own space in the web and also was easier to mold. This is what Google was not able to do because of its openness. This is a good example of what has happened, “We’ll pay for convenience and reliability, which is why iTunes can sell songs for 99 cents despite the fact that they are out there, somewhere, in some form, for free. When you are young, you have more time than money, and LimeWire is worth the hassle. As you get older, you have more money than time. The iTunes toll is a small price to pay for the simplicity of just getting what you want.” People want it to be easy and simple. So they pay and freedom is something they want which is true but simplicity is also important. The future stated in this article is commercial content, but the web is still around because we are the web. The people created the web and may choose to kill it, but not just yet at least.

Blogging is something which he also touches upon, the fact that we can now have personal pages with ideas. The ability to be able to become authors of our thoughts and opinions for everyone to see.  Rss feed is something which allows for free flowing discussions, and updates. O’Reilly states “User are co-developers, they shape the web”. This is what the web has become a place shaped by the people.

His lyrics are explicit just to warn you but this one of his softer songs, but we are big boys and big girls so everyone should be fine.

These are the words that are on my laptop, and I see everyday. The song for me is about ones self, finding there success and finding solutions to ones problems. “So if the solution has never been to look in yourself. How is it that you expect to find it anywhere else.” Is an example of what I am trying to say. It is more than just hip-hop, for some Hip-Hop/Rap is not something that they listen to and/or may have a bad impression of. Yet hip-hop/rap can be poetry and make one think just like this song, and just like many songs. I am one of those people that listens to everything but not just whats on radio, because if I did that I would of never heard this songs or many others. Hip-Hop/Rap is a type of music but also a style of poetry in my opinion. Listen to the song, I’m going to have others up later.
